Distance data
A number of distance data sets are used in WICID for analysis functions. These data sets are listed here.
Euclidean distance data are generated as required as the 'as the crow flies' distance between the centroids of the base areas.
Pre-calculated distance data have been previously generated and stored for all pairs of areas in the relevant geography. In WICID, these have typically been generated as the mean Euclidean distance between all sub-components of the origin and destination. For example, the pre-calculated distance between two counties will be the mean of the Euclidean distances between all pairs of member districts in the origin and destination counties.
