Flow Data Information System
'Table 100' was produced by OPCS as part of the SAS/LBS series of tables in order to address concerns about poor recording of students in the 1991 Census. The 'Table' in fact consists of two separate tables: Table 100a and Table 100b.
Table 100a gives counts of resident students for every local authority district (LAD) by LAD of term-time address. Within WICID, the student's residental (i.e. parental) address is considered the origin, whilst the term-time address is considered to be the destination. Thus, Table 100a shows 'flows' for UK resident students from [the origin] their LAD of usual residence (i.e. the parental residence in most cases) to [the destination] their term-time address LAD.
It is important to note that the table includes school children, and that it includes students whose term time and residential addresses are identical. Thus the biggest 'flows' are those within an LAD: school children who live at home.
