Migrants from USA to Forest Heath and Kensington & Chelsea, 1990-91

Notes:

Example - migration from USA to Britain, 1990-91: Forest Heath and Kensington and Chelsea.

This example is expanded to look at the age-sex profiles for the two most common destination districts. Again, the graph was created in MS Excel.

The two districts have very different characteristics.

Forest Heath reflects the profile one would expect for a military base: heavily skewed to males.

K & C features a slightly older age at the peak. Apparent in the K&C profiles (but not in the Forest Heath) is a retirement-age peak. The number of children migrating to K&C is low. Whilst is a similar proportion of the peak as observed in Forest Heath, it is probably worth noting that there may be a natural limit: accommodation suitable for families with children is rare in Kensington and Chelsea.
