Notes:

Selection of geography is difficult:

One may not know the name of the area

One may not know the location of the area

Selecting one area from a set of 10 regions is a completely different problem to that of selection 20 areas from a list of 200,000 output areas.

Therefore, multiple alternative pathways are provided:

Select all areas in a geography

Copy an existing selection (i.e. set destinations to be a copy of previously selected origins)

Select from a list

Select by typing in a name or other id code.

Maps are the obvious omission from this list , and are currently under development. We are expecting to use the PostGIS extenstions to PostgreSQL; PostGIS is an Open GIS Consortium (OGC) compliant set of functions and data types for PostgreSQL.

This e.g. shows selection of USA from a list of all foreign origins. Note controls to change the layout of the list - we have no reliable way of telling the screen or window size of the user, so do not know how many areas they can easily see per screen.
